The Challenge
During the TD Ameritrade integration, we faced a "merger dilemma". We had two distinct design systems and immense pressure to unify the user experience without sacrificing velocity. With teams already stretched thin, there was a high risk they would bypass our design system, Everest, to save time.
The Strategy
I pivoted Everest’s value proposition from "standardization" to "acceleration." I collaborated with product leadership to prove that adopting our system would offload the UI burden, allowing their engineers to focus 100% on complex backend migration.
The Execution
I led the creation and onboarding of a specialized Migration Pattern Library. We provided "Before & After" blueprints that transformed the conversion process from a 7-week manual effort into a 7-day streamlined task.
The Impact
The velocity we were able to achieve wowed leadership from both camps. We reduced UI delivery time by 35% during the merger’s most critical phase. This critical adoption shifted the perception of the design system from a "constraint" to a "lifeline," leading to a permanent surge in cross-team adoption.
